Job Description:
System Administrator / System Engineer / 3rd line support

Permanent - Guildford - £40000 to £45000 bonus £46000 to £52000

Candidates must have a personable and pro-active approach.

Skills / experience required

- Bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering and/or Computer Science, or equivalent industry experience
- Systems Engineer experience with 'mission critical' systems in a medium to a large scale enterprise environment.
- Solid Unix Systems Administration experience both in Redhat Enterprise, Solaris and HP-UX Operating Systems.
- Manage monitoring tool such as Nagios
- Basic understanding of regulatory requirements (i.e. Sarbanes-Oxley) in Unix/Linux environment.
- Enterprise class hardware, servers, storage & networking. Familiarity with Tier 1 vendor technologies (HP, Dell, Cisco).
- Expert level knowledge of Redhat Enterprise Linux - Redhat Certified is a plus.
- Strong knowledge in TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, NFS and other networking experience.
- Strong experience in Mail, FTP, LDAP, NIS and Automount.
- Experience with large scale and high performance web application in Apache, Tomcat, Java or PHP.
- Experience in Server virtualization infrastructure. (Redhat Xen and VMware)
-Working knowledge of Database Administration - Oracle and Mysql.
- Working knowledge of enterprise storage technologies (SAN,NFS,ICSI,RAID).
- Proven ability to drive systems optimizations on large scale infrastructure.
- Ability to identify and resolve performance bottlenecks in highly complex systems and drive performance optimizations.
- Solid Shell scripting. Perl experience a plus
